[No "I" in "We"]
Met a man so strong minded he’s clearly guided by a higher force..
When he smiles, I can’t help but fully adore..
When he laughs, I find myself just wanting more —
irresistible, with a chiseled look —
I wrote our book with notes that quote unquote I hoped
made him feel invincible, never miserable, never ridiculed —
but that was back then,
when I thought him to be an individual, an original..
Then again,
when he became my best friend, but put it to an abrupt end,
I found I second guessed what I initially thought was meant best —
now I gotta let go, carry on and still grow,
and so it seems we’d deem this is now how our story goes
— apart is where we’ll start, at least this I now know..
If it doesn’t work out, it just doesn’t..
if it wasn’t meant to be, it just wasn’t…
But somewhere in-between,
we could have been a winning team,
but let me intervene there is no “I” in “we” —
can you not see I will not beg and plead,
because I know someday you’ll know you made a mistake that cannot be paid,
but just MAYBE you’ll get away with having your way —
that is if I say that’s okay,
but that ain’t today —
I cannot be swayed —
no,
not after you went and played me that way..
Is it too much to say you wanna stay a bachelor,
as you were?
I’ll stay a hunter gatherer,
as a traveler —
never crash & burn,
cause I’ve learned I’ve earned to never be happier —
my talents, my looks, my smarts —
it’s just a start of why I’m PRICELESS..
man you must be high as sh*t to never have went in for the win —
and to think you’ll soon forget, how I’m so f*cking legit
that my etiquette
won’t ever even let the record

just flows through my mind’s eye as nothing but chit chatter..
I’ll tell you what I’ve told all of them
